In a serious traffic accident on the B28 between Appenweier and Nußbach on Monday morning, a 72-year-old driver succumbed to his injuries at the scene. According to initial findings by traffic police officers, the elderly man, driving towards Oberkirch, veered into the oncoming lane at approximately 9:25 a.m. for reasons still under investigation, resulting in a head-on collision between the truck and his car. The force of the impact caused his car to veer off the road and come to a stop off the roadway. Emergency responders had to extricate the 72-year-old man from his vehicle. Following the initial collision, the truck driver collided with another oncoming car before coming to a stop across the roadway. The damage is estimated to be in the tens of thousands of euros.
