Life story work in dementia care: a film about good practice

Everybody has a life story. These are rich and varied and can be used to communicate who we are to the people around us. People with dementia sometimes need help to communicate their histories and identities, and 'life story work' might provide a way for them to do this more easily. This five-minute film is based on the research findings of an NIHR funded project exploring good practice in life story work from the perspectives of people with dementia, family carers and professionals. The film can be used by anyone (for non-commercial purposes) free of charge, for example for awareness raising or staff training. You can watch the film here, or download it for offline use from the project webpage: https://www.york.ac.uk/spru/projects/... There is also a short summary of the research findings which lists key features of good practice that can be downloaded from: http://eprints.whiterose.ac.uk/95286/... The findings are based on a systematic review of the literature and 10 focus groups with people with dementia, family carers and professionals (with a total of 73 participants) . The full report can be accessed here: http://eprints.whiterose.ac.uk/104193... We would be very keen to hear whether you find these resources useful.
