Matsui TVR2000SIL CRT TV VCR COMBO REPAIR, turn of after 20 minutes. Can we fix it?

In today’s video, I’m bringing a Matsui TVR2000SIL back to life—a classic 20-inch CRT television with a built‑in VHS player, sold in the UK under the Matsui brand in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Before diving into the repair, I take a quick look at the history of Matsui, a budget label created by Currys that became a familiar sight in British homes for decades. This particular unit came in with power issues and intermittent operation, so it was time to open it up and see what was going on inside. During the teardown, I discovered: Cracked solder joints on the mainboard A failing capacitor on the power supply section General ageing components that needed inspection and cleanup In the video, I walk through the full repair process—reflowing the bad solder joints, replacing the faulty capacitor, and testing the set to make sure it’s running safely and reliably again. These Matsui CRT/VHS combo units are becoming surprisingly collectible today, especially among retro gamers and VHS enthusiasts. Working examples often sell for £150–£200, and even faulty units are sought after for restoration projects. If you enjoy CRT repairs, retro tech, or just watching old electronics get a second chance, you’ll love this one.
