Hey Artnerds! I'm back with another entry in my Easily Influenced series- where I review art supplies and books from art influencers and influential artists! Stoneground & Sarah Simons Shownotes: This is probably not indicative of her normal classes, as this was a $25 class offered through NAMTA and held at Creativation, and is not necessarily watercolor artist facing, but possibly influencer/journalist/buyer facing. HOWEVER! It was clear that a lot of care went into this class- the mood was set as soon as we walked in, with lowered lighting and soft music. The tables had cloths and were set up in a large U shape, with beautiful flowers at every place. Each place received a cute coaster style busdiness card, an adorable vinyl sticker, loads of Stoneground dot cards, and plenty of Hahnemule paper. We also received a gift bag with MORE palettes, a pan of gold paint, a beautiful infobooklet about Stoneground, two Princeton brushes (selected by Sarah), and an empty Stoneground palette. Sarah walked us through some basics for painting flowers. She had a document viewer setup so we could see her desktop from the back of the class, and midway through, they lost internet connection, so the document viewer wasn't talking to her computer. She handled that very well, going around the class, offering encouragement and feedback. She seems to have a laidback and friendly personality that I think works very well when teaching adults who may be anxious about trying a new thing. Before taking this class, I had already purchased the Stoneground Splendid palette, but htis class really impressed me with the quality of their paints. You might count my 'review' of the class as part of this Easily Influenced, or you may feel like this positive experience has biased me Note: Paint notes are missing I'm afraid. Apologies, but fear not- this isn't a full test and that is still coming up. The Basics: A lot of opaque colors Not as much color range as I would hope- skewing beige and yellowish Would be challenging for me to use as a standalone palette However: I have several half pans & the Brittany Tough palette which is more basics, and plan on combining the two palettes before the fieldtest Chapters: 00:00 Introduction 02:27 My Experience with her class at NAMTA 07:48 Book Review: Modern Watercolor Botanicals 43:03 Book Flip Through 46:25 Sarah Simon/The Mint Gardener Online 59:15 Stoneground Paints & The Mint Gardener 1:09:37 Stoneground Paint Online 1:17:53 Final Thoughts Music: A Day in the Village Loop A Day in the Village Loop Layer Classical Guitar A Day in the Village Loop Layer Dulcimer A Day in the Village with Final No Loop By the Bonfire Intro By the Bonfire Loop By the Bonfire with Final No Loop Calm Intro Calm Loop Calm with Final No Loop Exploring the Village Loop Exploring the Village with Final No Loop Kevin MacLeod- Enchanted Valley Kevin MacLeod- Folk Round Kevin MacLeod- Master of the Feast Sunny Travel- Nico Staf Sunset Dream- Cheel Village Nights Loop Village Nights Loop Layer Clarinets Village Nights Loop Layer Strings Village Nights with Final No Loop #stonegroundpaints #stonegroundwatercolors #paintreview
