The works are part of the Autopista del Sol (Highway of the Sun) megaproject, being carried out by the Government of Peru through the Ministry of Transport and Communications and the concessionaire COVISOL. The Mocce-San José section, approximately 13 km long, is already showing significant progress and will completely eliminate traffic through the city of Lambayeque and the northern part of Chiclayo.
