Old home made video of bygone lake freighters at Port Huron
hand-held "Video 8" was the best any boatnerd could manage in the first years of the 1990s. During that time I was slaving away as a flight instructor in the Washington DC area as doctors, lawyers and lobbyists tried to kill me as they learned to fly. But, my good friend and fellow boat chaser D.J. Story saved my sanity by shooting Great lakes freighter videos and sending them to me. Here are some of them. They are time-worn and shot before "steady cam" came along. Yet, he caught some classic boats that are now long gone. I WARN YOU, these videos are nothing near quality and a car cry from today's technology, but they can be fun to watch. This is the first in a series, so stay tuned!
