A MEDICAL student died due to DEPRESSION || Exposing Avicenna Medical College

**Students at Avicenna Medical College in Lahore have been protesting against what they claim to be a toxic environment created by the college administration. The recent death of a female student, Mahnoor, has been a catalyst for these protests. Reports suggest that Mahnoor’s mental health deteriorated due to humiliating behavior from a teacher and the management. Some students claimed that she took her own life due to extreme stress caused by heavy fines and strict disciplinary actions. The students accused Prof Masood Nizam Tabassum of harassing them and misusing his authority. They also alleged that the chairman of the college, Abdul Waheed Sheikh, ran the institution like a military boarding school, imposing strict punishments and fines for poor academic performance. Female students were reportedly made to sit on the floor in odd positions. The protesters demanded an investigation into the college’s affairs and wanted the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) to take notice of the wrongdoings, particularly the collection of money on the pretext of fines.
