The Zetta City Module 1 was supposed to be the world's cheapest electric car – a $7,000 Russian city car with innovative induction motors. It promised a range of up to 200 km, a futuristic, minimalist interior, and production in Tolyatti with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. The project even caught the attention of Minister Denis Manturov, who personally tested the prototype in 2021 and praised its comfort and turning radius. But the dream never became a reality. Despite receiving over 284 million rubles in government subsidies and a total investment of approximately 570 million rubles, the company failed to meet production deadlines. By 2020, the project stalled due to lack of funding, and a criminal case was opened against the company for misuse of budget funds. Only five prototypes were produced. The Tolyatti equipment and facilities were ultimately sold to other manufacturers producing furniture and ATVs.
