Springer Fever: Hiking the AT Approach Trail from Amicalola Falls, GA

The hiker term “Springer Fever” refers to the wanderlust pull of Springer Mountain, the southern terminus of the Appalachian Trail, the mountain’s name becoming a Siren’s Song to those who get the itch of wanting to thru-hike or section hike the entire trail. Over Thanksgiving break, Aimee hiked from the Approach Trail Arch at the the Amicalola Falls visitor’s center up the 610 steps of the falls up to the summit of Springer mountain and back: a 17-mile journey with an overnight tenting experience at Black Gap Shelter.
