Russian firearms manufacturer Kalashnikov has announced the development of a new 6.02x41mm caliber round. The ammunition, designed by the Tula Ammunition Factory, has been developed to provide superior penetration capabilities, now with improved ballistic protection. According to a report from Kalashnikov Weapons, on December 12, 2023, the Russian Federal Intellectual Property Service registered patent "RU 2809501 C1". The patent describes a "small arms ammunition with improved penetration capabilities" developed at the Tula Ammunition Factory in cooperation with Kalashnikov, and the patent designated the newly developed intermediate ammunition "6.02x41mm caliber round".
