3 people dead in five-alarm fire at Econo Lodge in Wooster Township: 'This is a horrible tragedy'

We’re following breaking news out of Wooster Township where three people have died following an overnight fire at the Econo Lodge in the 2100 block of Lincoln Way East. The Wooster Fire Chief says firefighters were dispatched to the scene shortly after 1:30 a.m. “En route we were told by dispatch that there is people on 911 saying they’re trapped in the building," said Wooster Township Fire Chief Dallas Terrell. "Our first arriving engine arrived on scene with heavy flames through the roof and made several rescue attempts to try to reach the people in that room. Efforts were unsuccessful.” Chief Terrell said the situation was elevated to a five-alarm fire “due the complexity and size of the fire.” The cause of the fire is under investigation. “This is a horrible tragedy, and we’re very sorry for their loss," he said.
