WILD CAMP with the 3F UL GEAR Taiji 2 (4 season inner)

Join me on this woodland camp in the Peak District where I test out the 3F UL GEAR Taiji 2 with a 4 season inner fitted in strong winds and heavy rain… I had the tent fitted out with the 4 season inner before I arrived. This was my first test of the Thermarest NeoAir xTherm sleep mat and my new Decathlon Quechua pillow. I had my trusty Ice Flame down quilt with me too, though I definitely hit it’s limits with the 2 degree temperature. I was also joined by Mark on this one in his Vango Mirage Pro tent and a Mountain Equipment Helium 600 sleeping bag. The Mirage tent stood solid through all of the wind and seemed really strong. The down side here was the weight, coming in at just over 3kg vs the 2kg weight of the Taiji 2. We camped the night after Storm Eunice hit the UK, we were in the Midlands so away from the main force of the storm but we did get some strong winds and rain as the tail end of it passed by. Due to the weather we made sure we camped in an open area and close to the car in case we needed to bail for any reason. Remember, ALWAYS put safety first. Bailing ain’t failing! The rain held off for the evening, so we built up a fire, cooked some food and enjoyed a couple of beers. Then we had constant rain and heavy winds from 11PM until we left the next morning. A great test for the tents but not much fun packing away! Most famous for their Lanshan trekking pole tents, 3F UL GEAR specialise in lightweight tents that are ideal for wild camping and long thru-hikes.
