The Chinese Taipei athlete has been at the centre of a gender row, along with Algerian boxer Imane Khelif. Both athletes were disqualified from the New Delhi World Championships in 2023, as the International Boxing Association said they failed the gender eligibility tests. But the International Olympic Committee said the tests were not legitimate, forcing sports experts to question how to quantify and standardise gender.
