The flight was scheduled on an Airbus A330-300, which we operated as a crew of two. Flight time was a bit more than 9 hours, but we reached the destination in beautiful afternoon weather with clear skies, calm winds, but some thermal turbulence closer to the ground. We were approaching from the north-east following the eastern US coastline to pick up the ZJAAY transition on the TAQLE2 RNAV arrival, which lead us north of Norfolk (KORF) to the airport. As it was a sunny, beautiful day, skydiving was in progress in the area and we had to maintain a high downwind at 12.000 ft. During that time we encounter something in the sky - can you figure out what it was? ;-) At first, we were to plan for runway 05R - which is rather short - but we managed to negotiate a landing on the other runway. Later, we were cleared for a visual approach to runway 05L which was quite steep at first because the controller kept us high but we basically followed the ILS from above while intercepting final.
