This piece is a cut of the same cloth from my previous one, "The Kettle Black", and like that piece it was written in a variety of unusual locations. Finding borrowed time to compose this has been a bit of catharsis. In this piece I had wanted to write something of a ragtime tragedy; the next one will be something sunnier.
