Walking Tour of Historic Richmond Town | Staten Island’s Living History
About Historic Richmond Town: Historic Richmond Town is a living history village and museum complex that preserves over 300 years of Staten Island’s history. It began as a rural settlement in the late 1600s and later became the county seat of Richmond (Staten Island’s original name). The site features restored homes, shops, and public buildings from the 17th through 19th centuries, giving visitors a glimpse into everyday life in colonial and early American New York. Today, it spans over 100 acres with more than 30 historic structures, making it the largest historic village in New York City. Costumed interpreters, demonstrations, and events bring the past to life, showcasing Staten Island’s role in the city’s early development.
