Juneteenth is a celebration originating in Galveston, TX that commemorates when the last of enslaved African Americans realized they were free. It has been celebrated for the last century and thanks to Opal Lee and rugged tenacity; President Joe Biden signed a bill making Juneteenth a federal holiday on June 17, 2021.
