The Ultra Rare Beast With 7-Liter Engine That Nobody Remembers!

The Ultra Rare Beast With 7-Liter Engine That Nobody Remembers! The AC 428 Frua is one of the rarest and most forgotten supercars ever built. In 1968, this incredible car cost more than an Aston Martin, could hit 140 miles per hour, and was so exclusive that only 80 people in the entire world ever owned one. It was the perfect combination of British engineering, Italian design, and American muscle power all wrapped into one stunning package. Most people have heard of the famous AC Cobra, but almost nobody knows about this hidden gem that could embarrass Ferraris on the road. The story of the AC 428 Frua starts when the legendary Cobra program was ending in the mid-1960s. Derek Hurlock, the man behind the Cobra project, wanted to create something completely different. He didn't want another raw and loud race car. Instead, he dreamed of building a gentleman's car, something with the Cobra's incredible power but wrapped in Italian elegance and British luxury. He wanted a car that could drive across Europe in complete comfort but still beat everyone in a race when you stepped on the gas. AC Cars took the same chassis that powered the Cobra and stretched it to create more room. Then they asked Pietro Frua, a legendary Italian designer who had created bodies for Maserati, to design the body. What he created was pure magic. The car had a long, graceful hood, hidden headlamps, and lines that made it look fast even when it was standing still. When the prototype appeared at the 1965 London Motor Show, people were amazed. This wasn't just a sports car. This was something refined and special. Under that beautiful hood sat a powerful 7.0 liter Ford V8 engine that produced 345 horsepower and an incredible 642 pound feet of torque. The car could accelerate from zero to 60 miles per hour in about 6 seconds and reach top speeds of over 140 miles per hour. Inside, the cabin was trimmed in fine leather and wood with elegant gauges and metal switches. Everything was hand crafted, which made each car feel like a work of art. However, the AC 428 Frua was built in a complicated way that made it very expensive. The chassis was built in England, shipped to Italy where the body was hand fitted, and then shipped back to England where the engine was installed. This back and forth process was slow and costly. AC lost money on every single car they sold. By 1973, when the last car was built, only 81 had been made. Today, fewer than 60 exist, making each one a treasured piece of automotive history. ____ We do not own the footages/images compiled in this video.
