De Oudste Steen Boven: binnenkijken in de voormalige Openbare Leeszaal aan de Voetiusstraat

Anyone wishing to borrow books in the city center can nowadays visit the library on the Neude. However, the origins of the Utrecht library lie just a stone's throw away on Loeff Berchmakerstraat. The first public reading room was established there in the early 19th century. Due to a lack of space, the reading room moved to Voetiusstraat, where the building opened its doors in 1912. Walk along below with city guide Bart van Mierlo from Loeff Berchmakerstraat to Voetiusstraat. At his final destination, we take a look inside one of the city's most beautiful national monuments.
