Medina Djoé, a 24-year-old resident of Nantes, was barely 13 when she was first forced into prostitution. She and her two sisters had been placed in foster care six years earlier. From foster family to foster family, from group home to group home, Medina Djoé repeatedly ran away and found refuge on the streets. Extremely vulnerable, she quickly became prey for men and pimps. Her story is the story of thousands of other children in France; a phenomenon that NGOs, the judiciary, and local elected officials are trying to combat.
