Erfahrungsbericht: Kreuzotter & Aspisviper | Giftschlangenbiss beim wandern in der Schweiz, was tun?

Report from the Swiss television program SF PLUS: Asp viper and adder: Around 30 people are bitten by these two native venomous snake species each year, primarily hikers and climbers. The bite of an asp viper or adder is not a death sentence. Every second doesn't count. Medical care in this country is so good that since 1961, only one fatal accident has been recorded that was at least partially caused by an asp viper bite. Nevertheless, snake bites are no small matter. They can be quite dangerous for children, the elderly, people with pre-existing medical conditions, and those allergic to bee or wasp venom. There is an increased risk of serious cardiovascular collapse. Allergic individuals could also experience anaphylactic shock. However, those in good physical condition will, in the best-case scenario, not even notice the bite – but in the worst-case scenario, they still have plenty of time to seek medical attention.
