(1957, PLAINFIELD) ED GEIN: The Man Who Made Objects From Human Skin

What would you find if you entered your town's quietest neighbor's house? On November 16, 1957, when police forced entry into Ed Gein's farmhouse in Plainfield, Wisconsin, they discovered something that would forever change the concept of horror. Edward Theodore Gein seemed like a shy, harmless farmer. But in his kitchen, investigators found Bernice Worden's decapitated body hanging from the ceiling. It was just the beginning: four chairs upholstered with human skin, complete masks made from preserved women's faces, a vest crafted from tanned human torso, lampshades made with skin, and decorative objects made from human body parts. For over a decade after his mother Augusta's death in 1946, Ed Gein desecrated at least 40 graves in the local cemetery. He exhumed bodies of women who physically resembled his mother and transformed his isolated farm into a macabre workshop where he manufactured objects from human remains. He confessed to murdering two women: Mary Hogan, who disappeared in 1954, and Bernice Worden in 1957. Ed Gein's story directly inspired three of the most influential horror films: Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho with Norman Bates and his toxic relationship with his mother, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre with Leatherface wearing human skin masks, and The Silence of the Lambs with Buffalo Bill creating a suit from his victims' skin. Hollywood discovered that reality exceeded any fiction. Ed Gein never faced a traditional murder trial. He was declared mentally incompetent due to schizophrenia and spent 26 years in psychiatric hospitals until his death in 1984. His crimes continue to be studied by criminologists and forensic psychologists worldwide. 🔔 SUBSCRIBE and hit the bell for more real horror cases! 👍 LIKE if this case shocked you 💬 COMMENT: Did you know these movie characters were based on Ed Gein? 📤 SHARE this video with true crime enthusiasts #EdGein #TrueCrime #SerialKiller #RealHorror #Psycho
