Compass Tips - Dividing a line sement into equal segments. Method 2

One way to divide a line into equal segments with only a compass and a straight edge. Thale's Theorom Draw a new line starting at the end of the line you want to divide. Use the compass to make 4 equal segments. Connect the last mark to the opposite end of the first line. Use the method for transferring angles (See:    • Compass Tips - Transfer an Angle  ) to create to more lines that are parallel to the line you just drew. Where those lines intersect with the first line will be the markers that divide your line.
