For nature lovers, this small country is a goldmine of biodiversity, a clear reflection of its cultural diversity. In the heart of the Amazon, the dugout canoe or the plane are the only ways to venture into this endless forest. Fabian Vas is a Buru, a white descendant of the Dutch settlers who established themselves in Suriname. His mission is to capture the beauty of his country, a little-known corner of the world. Fabian is a photographer who loves wild nature, exploring unknown territories, and the people who inhabit them. He grew up in this small country bordered by the Amazon and the warm waters of the Atlantic Ocean. For the tribes of the Amazon, doctors always arrive by air and never empty-handed. Rosanne Peuscher, 35, is the only doctor in Suriname performing this role. She works for Medische Zending, a medical and humanitarian organization. She crosses the Amazon by plane, helping the most isolated communities in this vast rainforest. Monique Pool is a hero in Suriname because she is a staunch defender of the Amazon's most emblematic animal, the sloth. Monique's garden is a small Noah's Ark, a refuge for the forest's most fragile creatures. It is home to sloths, but also porcupines, anteaters, and even a giant anteater. Thanks to her actions, she was nominated for the CNN Hero of the Year award. This documentary was produced by Patly Productions and directed by Laurent Cadoret.
