I Didn’t Know These People. Now I’ll Never Forget Them

Here are some of my favorite moments out on the streets of Portland, Oregon. When I first started shooting portraits on the streets, I’d walk out my front door & feel like I was going on an adventure. I’d imagine I was a little hobbit leaving his shire for the first time. That was the feeling. 3 years later, that feeling is still there. Just different. Now these little moments on the streets feel like I’m returning. Like I’ve crossed paths with an old friend who I haven’t seen for ages, picking up an old conversation as the world floats around us. We weave, and dodge, and create. And there’s no effort to it. It just unfolds like a long scroll, written in a language I don’t really need to understand. And then we part ways. And there’s always this beautiful footage of us walking away. It’s footage I’ve never shared, but to me, it’s sometimes the most personal part. They’re walking away, opening their door, embarking on their adventure. Walking into the unknown. 📸 Shot on Sony A7RV + Sony 50mm f/1.4 / Sony 24-70mm GM II 📍 Filmed in Portland, Oregon 🎤 Mood: Curious, open, human ⚡ Vibe: Real moments, connection, unpredictability 0:00 - The Pup was Hiding 1:44 - A Conversation with a Vietnam Vet 7:49 - She Almost Walked Off 10:47 - Crying in Public 13:25 - Black Hole #humanconnection #sonyalpha
