And without thinking twice, we rushed to our beloved Tarusa and Polenovo! We visit there almost every year, in summer, spring, fall, and winter – and we recommend it to you, dear travel friends! If possible, don't sit at home (there's still time) – go and enjoy the beauty of nature on warm autumn days! * * TARUSA is a city in Russia, the administrative center of the Tarusa District of the Kaluga Region. It forms the municipality of the same name, with the status of an urban settlement as the only populated area within it. It is located at the confluence of the Tarusa and Oka Rivers, 36 km from Serpukhov and 70 km from Kaluga. Thanks to its uniquely preserved appearance—most of the buildings are single-story, dating back to the 19th century—the city has the status of a natural and architectural reserve and is included in the list of historical cities of Russia. * * The State Memorial Historical, Artistic, and Natural Museum-Reserve of the artist V.D. Polenov is located in the Zaoksky District of the Tula Region, on the right bank of the Oka River, in the former Borok estate. The main house, the artist's studio "Abbey," outbuildings, and outbuildings were built on the estate, as were the Trinity Church and school, located 2 km from Polenov in the village of Byokhovo, where a folk theater for peasants and their children is now held in the village of Strakhovo. In 1931, a house museum was opened on the estate.
