This video gives a full overview of my homemade SEAT Arosa, powered by a single-cylinder, air-cooled Lifan 192F diesel engine. This project wasn't created for speed or a pretty picture. The main idea was to create a vehicle that was as simple, inexpensive, and easily repairable as possible, without complex electronics. It could be used as an alternative to a walk-behind tractor and trailer: for trips to the store, to the forest, through the countryside, or simply as a daily driver. Initially, the car's stock engine failed, and the vehicle itself sat idle for a long time. A diesel engine from a walk-behind tractor was lying around, and eventually, the idea came to connect a standard car transmission and the single-cylinder diesel engine via a homemade adapter plate. In this video, I show in detail: • the engine compartment • the car's design • how the Lifan 192F diesel engine works in a passenger car • the engine starting system • the vacuum system for the brake booster • additional engine and gearbox mounts • the vibration damping system • how the car's controls work I also explain: — why the car only drives on one front wheel — why the differential was welded shut — why the right-hand drive had to be abandoned — how an electric vacuum pump works — how the engine starts via a decompression valve — how a diesel engine works without complex electronics After the first serious tests, the engine failed—the crankshaft was damaged, the piston pin was broken, and the piston was damaged. After that, the engine was completely disassembled, rebuilt, modified, and reassembled. Now the car is running again, and has already covered over 150 km since the repairs. This isn't a show project or a show car, but a very simple, working design made from readily available parts that can be serviced in your garage without complex equipment or diagnostics. The car's top speed is approximately 75–80 km/h, and in one of its previous tests, it reached 87 km/h.
