In today's video on Casa de Verdade, you'll learn how to make your own armchair with Karla Amadori from the Diycore channel. The armchair is super easy to make, with a wooden frame and no upholstery. For the seat, backrest, and arms, Karla used futon and cushions, making it super stylish and customizable to suit any environment. All the frame pieces are made of 3-centimeter pine wood. This thickness is important for the furniture to be resistant and last much longer. To assemble it, two 75cm x 36cm pine pieces were used, side by side, to form the base of the armchair. For the arms, two 72cm x 25cm boards were used at both ends of the base. For the backrest, the bottom board is 69cm x 25cm. First, join the two pieces that will form the seat. Use wood glue, then attach and screw small wooden strips to join the boards and make the base very firm. For the arms and backrest, also attach them with glue and screws. Remember to use a square to keep all the pieces aligned. The finish will be even nicer if you screw from the inside of the structure using a 90-degree joint. The next step will be to turn the armchair over to screw on legs from underneath. At this point, choose the style of leg you want. The nice thing about using shorter legs is that it gives the furniture a more zen style. In Karla's armchair, she used 25-centimeter legs. To finish, position a 70 by 70 centimeter futon as a seat. On the back, you can place two or more cushions and, for armrests on the sides, use 50 by 30 centimeter cushions. The piece of furniture fits in the living room or bedroom, for you to read a book and relax.
