The reason frog actions are getting faster varies from person to person, but from my perspective, if it is not a field I frequent, it seems to be because I have absolutely no knowledge of the terrain beneath the surface. Then, is there no way to execute the frog with precision? I believe this provides a turning point in thinking regarding the free rig; perhaps one should simply decide in their mind that the frog is a free rig operated from the top. However, unlike the free rig, fine sandy bottoms are areas where aquatic vegetation densely covers the surface, and the piles of rocks encountered during dragging will be the large and small pockets scattered among the vegetation. In other words, when dragging the frog over vegetation, you should drag slowly to signal the bass below the surface that your lure is passing and its location. By stopping in a weed pocket, you provide the bass with a bite timing. Furthermore, within the weed pocket, you should appeal to them once again by applying shaking, walking the dog, or popping instead of hopping.
