NTV May Be Shutdown... But Solomon Kaweesa Isn't!
Ever since Nation Media Group was taken off the air, many Ugandans have been wondering what happened to some of the journalists who made NTV Uganda's Luganda bulletin, NTV Akawungeezi, a household favorite. Among the names viewers have missed the most is veteran storyteller Solomon Kaweesa, whose unique style of reporting earned him a loyal following across the country. In recent weeks, social media has been flooded with calls for Kaweesa to start reporting independently, with many saying his talent should not disappear simply because his television station is no longer broadcasting. Well, it appears those prayers have been answered. Following the death of Third Deputy Prime Minister Gen. Moses Ali, Solomon Kaweesa returned with a powerful narration that instantly reminded Ugandans why he is regarded as one of the country's finest storytellers. His report has been widely shared online, with many viewers calling for more. NTV Uganda may no longer be on air, but Solomon Kaweesa's storytelling is very much alive. His coverage of Moses Ali's death is all the proof many of his admirers needed. Here is Solomon Kaweesa's report, followed by my commentary.
