Super Dwarf Morphs Don't Exist!

This video is part of our series that breaks down common misconceptions about Dwarf and Super Dwarf Reticulated Pythons, to help you navigate towards good information about these incredible little snakes. In this video, Garrett Hartle of Reach Out Reptiles explains how there in no such thing as a 100% Dwarf or Super Dwarf Morph (with the rare exception for the potential of a true Dwarf or Super Dwarf Anerytheristic). Because exact locality data that has come in with every actual morph of Retic is sketchy at best, and no genetic testing has ever been done on original imported morph animals to confirm that they belong to the Dwarf or Super Dwarf family, and because no morphs (expect rarely, Anery) has come from the tiny isolated islands where these animal hail from, making any Super Dwarf morph consists of outcrossing a pure SD into larger Retic bloodlines to introduce the genetic trait, which must then be refined, sometimes for generations, to achieve a 50% or higher SD influenced animal, that can be ethically be labeled or marketed as "Super Dwarf __insert morph____". The terms "Dwarf Reticulated Python" and "Super Dwarf Reticulated Python" are used to describe Reticulated pythons of the subspecies Satuprai and Jampeanus, along with crosses of these subspecies into mainland reticulated pythons to refine the amazing array of genetic morphs within that species, and reduce their size to something more suited to a life with humans. Unfortunately, these terms are often used to mislead uneducated buyers into purchasing snakes with insufficient Dwarf and SD influence (lower than 50% Dwarf/SD Blood), or by completely misrepresenting larger grow Retics altogether! Pure locality Dwarf and Super Dwarf Retics from the Selayer, Jampea, Kayuadi, Kalatoa, Madu, and Karompa islands of Indonesia form a group represented by two unique subspecies of Reticulated python that have actually adapted to live in harsh environments with their diminutive size- packing all the intelligence, confidence, and incredibly beautiful color and pattern of the world's longest snake into a tiny little package, some being even as small as corn snakes! Unfortunately, they are still quite rare in captivity, and difficult to find.
