Hummingbird Flower recipes! 🥘 I cook (kathurumurunga) Delicious & Traditional Sri Lankan Dishes
The Kathurumurunga flower, also known as hummingbird flower, is in full bloom—and in today’s video, I bring you a celebration of Sri Lankan flavors made with this beautiful edible blossom. From crispy egg rolls filled with Kathurumurunga petals to refreshing cucumber juice, each recipe blends tradition, flavor, and creativity in true village cooking style. As the Poson Perahara approaches, the hummingbird trees stood radiant—heavy with flowers that inspired not only sacred offerings, but today’s flavorful menu. I harvested the freshest white Kathurumurunga blossoms, their shape like honeybirds frozen mid-flight, and turned them into a soft, golden tempered egg stir-fry that melts in your mouth. ➡️ The egg rolls, stuffed with a mix of Kathurumurunga petals, spices, and herbs, came out golden and crunchy—perfect with a tall glass of homemade cucumber juice mixed with garden fruits. Light, nutritious, and refreshing on warm days. I also crafted a rich, textured side dish with Kathurumurunga leaves, cashews, papadam, noodles, and native spices—a perfect balance of crispy and creamy textures. Alongside, I made fragrant basmati rice with prawns, gently infused with Kathurumurunga greens for a soft, layered flavor. To complete this nourishing spread, I prepared a chicken broth with celery, potatoes, and Kathurumurunga flowers—designed to warm, heal, and comfort. This video is full of hummingbird flower recipes, natural village cooking, Sri Lankan food traditions, and homemade drinks and snacks for the season. Embrace the nature...
