Life on the Plains - Remembering the Dust Bowl and Great Depression
In March I traveled to Amarillo, Texas on business. One evening while enjoying a dinner at 575 Pizza, I struck up a conversation with my server, Jackie, and told her about my goal to record an oral history every month for this YouTube channel. She liked the idea and said she knew of the perfect person. I gave her my card and left, honestly thinking the odds were not in my favor for my server to set this interview up. After all, Jackie didn't know me from Adam and even though we had a great conversation, chances are, that's as far as it would go. But, miracles do happen. About a week later Jackie called me to inform me that Wanda, an 87-year-old who lives just west of Amarillo would allow me to interview her. Every time I am able to conduct an interview I feel like I have been given a gift. Wanda's story will always be remembered by me and I'm hoping you'll enjoy hearing her story as much as I did.
