The Parable of the Great Feast Explained
The Parable of the Great Feast (Luke 14:15-24) What is the meaning of the Parable of the Great Feast (a.k.a. Banquet, Dinner, Supper, etc.) for us today? In this video reflection on the parable, you will find out what each person in the parable represents and the lesson Jesus teaches us about becoming disciples today. If God is the master in the story and the great feast is the Kingdom of heaven, then why would the invited guests decline the invitation? It isn't that they were bad people; they just had the wrong priorities. As a result, God sends his servant to invite people who have nothing to lose: the poor, crippled, blind, and lame. Then he sends them to the outcasts of the community. These people have no attachments to possessions or things of this world that pull them away from God. The verses that follow this parable further explain the meaning of the story: "So therefore, none of you can become my disciple if you do not give up all your possessions." (Lk 14:33) As we read this parable, let us ask ourselves: Do we place any priorities above our relationship with God? Who are the servants in our lives? How can we be like the servants, inviting others to join the feast? SUBSCRIBE for more Catholic videos: http://www.youtube.com/subscription_c...
