A Discussion with Dr. Doug Tallamy
The Kiawah Conservancy was proud to host Dr. Doug Tallamy, award-winning author, popular speaker, and T.A. Baker Professor of Agriculture in the Department of Entomology and Wildlife Ecology at the University of Delaware last month for a public talk. His books include Bringing Nature Home, The Living Landscape, co-authored with Rick Darke, Nature’s Best Hope, a New York Times Best Seller, and The Nature of Oaks, winner of the American Horticultural Society’s 2022 book award. A renowned entomologist with 40 years of field research, Dr. Tallamy has changed the conversation about conservation by making clear the connection between native plants and wildlife, stressing the impact of what we do in our own yards. During his talk, Dr. Tallamy discussed effective landscape designs that enhance local ecosystems and the importance of native plant communities that sustain food webs, sequester carbon, maintain diverse native bee communities, and manage our watershed. #conservation #kiawah #landtrust #nativeplants #homegrownnationalpark
