Aoba Shopping Street is where many buses depart, including those to Higashimurayama, Kumegawa, Kiyose, and Shin-Akitsu. This once thriving shopping street has been forced into decline by the recent expansion of large stores. Under these circumstances, someone has stepped up to change this shopping street. Tomokazu and Kaori Uchino, owners of Uchino Sheet Metal Co., Ltd. in Kumegawa Town, are among those who have joined the project to utilize the land and make use of artisanal skills. We spoke to them about the path of a craftsman, who involves people and elevates it to create something new.
