Ponche Crema is a creamy liqueur that graces every Venezuelan Christmas table, but it's so delicious that it's well worth making for Christmas celebrations around the world. It's based on a pastry cream that's easy to prepare and tastes just like the original Ponche Crema. After you make and taste it, you'll see it's a sublime and unparalleled liqueur! INGREDIENTS: FOR THE PASTRY CREAM: 500ml of milk = 1/2 liter 2 heaped tablespoons of cornstarch (Maizena) = 30g 3 egg yolks 3 tablespoons of sugar = 54g 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract. INGREDIENTS FOR CREAMY PUNCH: RECIPE FOR 2 BOTTLES: Prepared pastry cream 2 cans of sweetened condensed milk (395g each) 2 cups of rum (500ml; 1 cup equals 250ml) 2 glass bottles, preferably clear, boiled and dried, with lids. PREPARATION OF THE PASTRY CREAM: Blend all ingredients very well and cook in a saucepan, stirring constantly to prevent sticking. Initially cook over medium heat, then reduce the heat and simmer until it begins to boil. Let it boil for 1 minute, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and let it cool to room temperature. Refrigerate for 2 hours. PREPARATION OF THE CREAMY PUNCH: Place all ingredients in a blender and blend very well until smooth and creamy. Using a funnel to avoid spills, we bottled the liquid, sealed it, and refrigerated it until chilled. Serve cold and enjoy!
