It is reported that a part that detached from the engine struck the window. One passenger was injured. Ryanair, in a short statement released via email, explained that a cabin window "detached during the flight." However, several media outlets reported that after the window shattered, one passenger nearly was sucked out of the aircraft. According to AFP, another passenger told state broadcaster ERT that they heard a "sound like a tire bursting," followed by passengers screaming as the cabin depressurized. The passenger explained that "one passenger's head and shoulders were sucked out the window," and added that "fortunately, that person hadn't unbuckled their seatbelt." The airline's statement did not explain the cause or how the passenger was injured. The social media account "Breaking Aviation News & Videos" on X (formerly Twitter), citing local media reports and hospital sources, reported that a part detached from the engine shattered the window, and a 61-year-old Serbian man "nearly was sucked out of the aircraft, but his wife grabbed him and pulled him back." Ryanair Holdings, headquartered in Ireland, is Europe's largest low-cost carrier. According to its website, it operates over 600 Boeing aircraft and has an order for an additional 300 Boeing 737 MAX 10s.
