Spikeout FE White 1CC (Hardest Difficulty) (Emulator)

1CC of Spikeout FE with White on HARDEST difficulty The route taken in this video is Diesel Town - Shipyard - Opera (the shortest route through the game but still extremely difficult) This was played on the emulator "Supermodel" which is specifically for Sega Model 3 arcade games. The emulator has also been modified to run at 57 FPS which is more accurate to the arcade version. Controller used was a Hori Fighting Commander (PS4). Feels great to have finally accomplished this 1 year after my normal 1CC run and around 2 years since I started playing Spikeout. I really enjoy this game and I think it has a huge amount to offer players who can get over the initial frustrations of learning. This game is hard because it believes in your ability to learn and master it, and with dedication you begin to see the complexity and creativity in each of the overlapping systems. After completing the 1CC on normal I felt like there was still much more I could do to improve my play, so much so that I felt I couldn't even claim to be competent at Spikeout until I was able to achieve a 1CC on hardest. There are a lot of things to like about this game but the main thing that keeps me coming back to it is the combat system. Spikeout is very satisfying even after spending such a long time killing the same enemies over and over again. Moves and combos feel great to pull off and require tight timing, but knowing the best one to use and when to use it depends massively on your current situation which really helps to keep things fresh. Things like proximity to the wall, the enemy's current health, your current health, the enemy type, the types of other enemies near you, the enemy's elevation relative to you, whether or not you are facing the enemy, whether or not the enemy is backturned, what moves the enemy has access to, the existence of a super or health pickup, and the aggression (aka. bullshit) level of the enemy AI at the current moment are just some of the factors you will have to consider and learn to read in order to get through a 1CC. However, the most important factor in Spikeout is FUN. The game requires you to constantly improvise and make complex decisions on the fly to deal with the curveballs it throws at you, but gives you a tremendous amount of creative control to do so. Combo routes are not set in stone and moves can be mixed and matched very fluidly with knowledge. The juggle system is very lenient, allowing for things like easy infinites, but can afford to be that way because of the difficulty of the AI. Unless you have a single enemy isolated you will usually get mobbed and punished by the other enemies for making your combos any longer than what the game thinks is reasonable. I hope my video and words can inspire others to play this game. Its got a really great history to it, being designed by Toshihiro Nagoshi (of Yakuza and Super Monkey Ball fame) and released only on the super powerful Sega Model 3 whose GPU was designed by Lockheed Martin/Real3D. Battle Street is cool, but FE is the real deal in my opinion.
