Difference between FIR and Complaint | FIR VS complaint

If any cognizable offence (Qable-Dast Andazi Police) is committed, one can report to police under section 154 Cr.PC (Criminal Procedure Code), and on the basis of such report, the Police lodge an FIR and thereafter start investigation. However; if the offence committed is non-cognizable (Naqable-e-Dast Andazi Police), the Police is not authorized to lodge an FIR and in such case, the aggrieved person should approach to the Area Magistrate (Illaqa Magistrate) and file a Complaint (Private complaint) against the accused person. There are many other reasons, in which FIR is not lodged and thus complaint is the proper way to initiate legal proceedings against the accused.
