PULILAN Kneeling Carabao Festival 2026

The Pulilan Kneeling Carabao Festival is a vibrant cultural and religious celebration held annually on May 14 and 15 in Pulilan, Bulacan, in honor of San Isidro Labrador, the patron saint of farmers. The main highlight features hundreds of farmers guiding their decorated water buffaloes (kalabaw) to kneel in front of the parish church as a symbolic gesture of thanksgiving for a bountiful harvest. Pulileños train their carabaos (often since they were calves) to bend their knees and bow their heads as a sign of reverence when passing the San Isidro Labrador Parish Church. Decorated Carts and Floats, Farmers adorn their carabaos and attach them to colorful bamboo carts (carozas) loaded with farm produce like vegetables, fruits, and rice stalks. The streets are packed with marching bands, majorettes, and street dancers to complement the massive animal parade. The carabao holds a deeply rooted place in Philippine history, symbolizing resilience, hard work, and the agrarian foundation of the community.
