Round 3 of SIMmark Rally Championship #2 takes us to the demanding roads of Rally Pacifico in the highly competitive Rally3 class. After finishing P5 in Rally Finland, I entered this round sitting P5 in the championship standings, with incredibly small gaps separating several drivers in the overall classification. The rally began on the worst possible note. SS1 was the longest stage of the event, and jumping into it with absolutely no preparation or practice proved extremely costly. I suffered three major incidents during the stage, losing a huge amount of time right from the start of the rally. Things didn't improve much on SS2, where another mistake cost additional seconds and further increased the deficit created by the disastrous opening stage. At that point, the rally shifted from an attack for victory into a pure recovery drive. Fortunately, after SS2 I finally started to settle into a rhythm, understand the car better, and build confidence. From there, the pace improved significantly and I began clawing back time stage after stage. The recovery effort continued smoothly for most of the rally, allowing me to climb back toward the front of the field. However, as the event progressed, fatigue started becoming a factor. Since I decided to complete the entire rally in one sitting, my focus gradually faded during the final stages, leading to a few additional mistakes and preventing an even stronger finish. At the time of recording, I’m currently one of only three drivers to have completed the event, and I’m sitting in provisional P2 while waiting for the remaining competitors to finish their runs. Conclusion: A rally of two completely different halves a disastrous start followed by a strong recovery.
