Day 1 | The Great American Coastline (Riding From Canada To Mexico) 🇨🇦🇺🇸🇲🇽

The Great American coastline is a 10-episode mini-series where I embark on an insane adventure: attempting to be the fastest human to ride a bicycle from the border of Canada to the border of Mexico along the West Coast. This journey will be filled with numerous challenges and obstacles, as I will be fully self-supported without any film crew, safety net, or follow car. Throughout this 10-episode mini-series, I’ll dive into my strategy of routing, the nutritional plan I’ve devised to stay fueled, and the mental toughness I’ll need to endure extreme stretches of loneliness, fatigue, and exhaustion. Each episode will be shot over the course of a single day. 1. *The Current Fastest Time:* The current fastest known time for this project is 12 days and 12 hours. I’m aiming to break that record with projected goal of 8-9 days. 2. *Self-Supported:* The project is classified as self-supported, meaning that I’ll be responsible for everything myself, but I can still receive assistance from the general public or trail Angels if needed. 3. * FILM EVERYTHING* I will be filming everything during this trip, the highs and lows, and everything in between. This will pose as the greatest challenge for me because just simply riding my bike from Canada to Mexico is not my main focus, it’s about telling the story. **STRAVA*** DAY 1 -    • Day 1 | The Great American Coastline (Ridi...     / strava   DAY 2 -    • Day 2 | Death Bridges & Burritos! | The Gr...     / strava   DAY 3 -    • Day 3 | BEST ROAD OF THE TRIP??? | The Gre...     / strava   Day 4 -    • Day 4 | We Made It To California!  | The G...     / strava   Day 5 -    • Day 5 | The Best ROAD I've EVER Ridden! (A...     / strava   Day 6 -    • Day 6 | My Plan Was To RIDE 12 HOURS Witho...     / strava   Day 7 -    • Day 7 | Will This COST Me The FKT Record? ...     / strava   Day 8 -    • Day 8 | Taking the LONG WAY Around! - The ...     / strava   **SUPPORT** ////// Buy a Burrito 🌯 - DIRECT support helps SOOO MUCH : https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/vegan... ////// https://ridebikes.com/ - New site, everything in stock, ships same day by me or my wife. The day’s big hurdle was a ferry that only departed every 90 minutes. Despite arriving just as it left the dock—missing it by two minutes—things turned around. A kind stranger brought me a hot vegan burrito, and I used the downtime to organize content. In the end, the forced two-hour break on the ferry gave me a much-needed reset. I also managed to reroute multiple times, saving 12 miles and improving efficiency—a classic “take a minute now to save an hour later” scenario. BIKE: The bike was heavy, fully loaded, and even small hills were a challenge. Early on, I experienced back pain, which could’ve been a trip-ender. I reassessed my riding position and adapted to manage the weight and avoid further strain. Outside of that, my gear setup was flawless: the COROS computer, Quad Lock, USWE bags, and my Canyon Aeroad all performed perfectly. RECOVERY: Once I reached the hotel, I immediately changed, hit the grocery store, and prepped for the next day to minimize stops. Managing fatigue and lack of sleep will be the trip’s biggest challenges, so recovery is critical. Balancing fueling, rest, and solo content creation (Strava, Instagram, YouTube) while riding is fun but pretty time consuming. 0:00 Intro 1:22 IT ALL STARTS HERE 6:16 Bike Setup 8:55 Unfamiliar Territory 10:34 So Many Ways To Go 11:49 Road Rating 8.6 12:49 Routing Troubles 15:41 JB Taught me this 17:53 The Ferry Is Leaving 21:22 Things Work Out 26:01 Empty Roads 27:55 Quad Shots 29:11 Road Rating 7.5 29:54 Vibin 34:12 Do Hard Things 36:49 Race To Recover 38:27 Burrito HandUp 39:22 Dinner Haul 40:34 Day Stats
