Sporting a plumb stem and a slightly raked reverse transom, the Dufour 36P ("P" for performance) seems at first glance to be designed solely for speed: a notion that chines just above the waterline aft and a tall nine-tenths rig with swept-back spreaders do little to dispel. However, the 36P, was developed to be a "dual-purpose" boat for the sailor who wants to cruise, race or daysail with friends and family. The Dufour 36P has a wide cockpit, a low-slung house and uncluttered decks. Flush-mounted hatches complete a nice, clean look. The boat has a folding swim platform aft and twin helms in a teak floored cockpit with teak seats. Removeable seat boxes can transform the cockpit to an open race layout for crew to work the winches and trim easily. Below deck is accessed via wide, gently sloped steps to a saloon that is bright and airy, thanks to six opening hatches, two opening ports and fixed port windows. Golden brown Moabi wood and white gelcoat compliment interior styling that is modern, comfortable and inviting. To starboard of the companionway is a good-sized head and shower. A hatch in the head aft bulkhead opens into a cavernous storage space beneath the cockpit. This locker can also be accessed from a hatch on deck aft of the wheel. Forward of the head is a nav station with a large working desk; opposite is an L-shaped galley. Aft to port is a cabin boasting a huge double berth and a hanging locker. In the saloon, settee berths flank a centerline table with folding leaves on both sides. A comfortable V-berth graces the large forward cabin with two hanging lockers. This Dufour 36p has B&G navigation instruments which include 3 x B&G colour displays on the mast and a B&G 7" chartplotter at the chart-table along with a VHF and entertainment unit.
