Gerrard received the Golden Globe Award for her contribution to the soundtrack of the movie Gladiator in 2000. Gerrard also contributed to the soundtrack of Man on Fire. She is known for her deep contra-alto singing voice and her lyrics in a language she invented herself. Dead Can Dance is a band consisting of Gerrard and Brendan Perry. This band was formed in Melbourne in 1981 and was originally based in Australia. In 1998 the band broke up, but in 2005 they went on another world tour together, the Dead Can Dance Reunion Tour.
