Lisa Gerrard Dead Can Dance The End #LisaGerrard #DeadCanDance #BrendanPerry Lisa Gerrard (Melbourne, April 12, 1961) is an Australian singer and composer who achieved international fame with the group Dead Can Dance, of which she formed the core with Brendan Perry. Gerrard received the Golden Globe Award for her contribution to the soundtrack of the movie Gladiator in 2000. Gerrard also contributed to the soundtrack of Man on Fire. She is known for her deep contra-alto singing voice and her lyrics in a language she invented herself. Dead Can Dance is a band consisting of Gerrard and Brendan Perry. This band was formed in Melbourne in 1981 and was originally based in Australia. In 1998 the band broke up, but in 2005 they went on another world tour together, the Dead Can Dance Reunion Tour. In 2012 the album Anastasis was released. Gerrard's first experience with making film music came in 1989 with the Spanish film El Niño de la Luna, in which Gerrard also made her debut as an actress. The music for this movie was made by Dead Can Dance. The film showed the life story of David, an orphan with special powers, who tries to escape from the orphanage together with Georgina, played by Gerrard. In 1995, Gerrard released her first solo album, The Mirror Pool. After this, she continued to collaborate with Dead Can Dance, which led to the release of Spiritchaser (1996). Two years later she recorded the album Duality with Pieter Bourke, which became the soundtrack to the film The Insider (1999). Other films for which she wrote music were Ali and Gladiator (2000, with Hans Zimmer). In 2004, Gerrard and Patrick Cassidy released Immortal Memory, the soundtrack to the movie Salem's Lot. A year later she collaborated with Ennio Morricone on the film score of Fateless. In 2006, Gerrard was involved in the shooting of a documentary called Sanctuary. This film, made by producer/director Clive Collier, was the result of a number of interviews with Gerrard and people who had worked with her - including Michael Mann, Russell Crowe, Hans Zimmer and Niki Caro. The production was released on DVD in 2007. That same year, Gerrard released her second solo album, The Silver Tree, which appeared on iTunes. It was nominated for the Australian Music Prize. The compilation album The Best of Lisa Gerrard was also released in 2007, which included songs from her Dead Can Dance period as well as solo work. She has been working with Klaus Schulze since 2008, with whom she has made a live album and DVD, Dziękuję Bardzo, which was recorded in Warsaw and Berlin. Rotterdam, 2007 In 2013 she sings pieces on the CD Diaries of Hope by the Polish composer Zbigniew Preisner. Zandeweer (Gronings: Zanneweer) is a village in the municipality of Het Hogeland in the province of Groningen in the Netherlands. It is located just south of Uithuizen. Until the municipal reorganization of 1990, it belonged to the former municipality of Kantens. Zandeweer has about 860 inhabitants. The village was created at the crossroads of two country roads. Buildings are still largely concentrated along those old roads. The church of Zandeweer originally dates from the thirteenth century. The loose gable roof tower dates from the fifteenth century. The church features an organ built in 1731 by Albertus Antoni Hinsz, a pupil of Arp Schnitger. The flour mill Windlust dates from 1818. There was also a mill in Zandeweer before that. The sarees hut that belonged to it is still there. The village has very few amenities. Apart from a village hall, there is only a public primary school. There is an active community life. Well-known is the folkloric dance group the Grunneger Daansers. The Hogeland (also written as Hoogeland) is the region in the province of Groningen north of the Reitdiep and the Damsterdiep. The name refers to the relatively high elevation of the ground, caused by the siltation of the sea. The soil, therefore, consists of marine clay. Some places on the Hogeland are Baflo, Eenrum, Kloosterburen, Leens, Loppersum, Mensingeweer, Pieterburen, Roodeschool, Spijk, Uithuizen, Uithuizermeeden, Ulrum, Usquert, Warffum, Warfhuizen, Wehe-den Hoorn, Westeremden, Westernieland, Winsum, and Zeerijp. Within Zandeweer there is still the hamlet of Doodstil, and that is where I was born Dirk Rop on the tow road last house along the canal towards Kantens Jack Rop Stadskanaal Photographer
