The 8th video from the Tsuneo Kinjo Hanshi and Tetsu Gima Hanshi seminar on day 2 of the GKR Karate Okinawa Experience 2025. In this video Tsuneo Kinjo Hanshi talks about and demonstrates keeping your elbow tucked in, lateral muscles engaged and using your body movement with Uchi Uke rather than excessive arm movements to create power to help redirect a strike. Much like the trajectory of when we pull back from Chudan Tsuki to Uchi Uke in kata Sanchin. He also talks about and demonstrates the correct trajectory of Mawashi Uke. The circular motion should be more forwards and backwards (perpendicular to the body) rather than a sideways motion (parallel to the body).
