Lindy Fralin Repairs and Rewinds a Legendary 51' Fender Broadcaster (Pre-Telecaster) Pickup
Lindy Fralin is carefully rewinding and attempting to bring new life to a 1951 Fender Broadcaster pickup. These early Broadcaster pickups built in Leo Fender’s first solidbody era before the Telecaster name even existed set the blueprint for the bright, raw, and cutting sound that defined electric guitar. After decades of play, the delicate windings and original materials often fail, but with the right touch they can be revived. Lindy’s approach is to preserve as much of the original as possible wire, flatwork, magnets, and character while restoring the coil with period-correct wire and winding methods. The result is a repair that respects the pickup’s history and keeps its vintage soul intact, ready to sing again in the modern age. #broadcaster #telecaster #lindyfralin #guitarpickups
