In this video essay I look at three works in different mediums that were incredibly important to me as a child in two major ways: educating me on the merits of storytelling and allegorically helping me contextualize my mental illness as a young and confused child. Since then I’ve loved works of all kinds that bend the reality of the characters and the audience, but that would only be possible with these works as a base.
