Myanmar’s Stunning Hsinbyume Myatheindan Pagoda | Bagan To Mandalay By Bus

Myanmar is known worldwide for its stunning temples and their rich history, but the Hsinbyume Myatheindan Pagoda outside of Mandalay is our favorite of them all. How do you get to Mandalay’s famous white temple? A little over an hour away by ferry up the Irrawaddy River, it’s not actually in the city as we originally thought, but the effort to get there is more than worth it. Head to the Mingun Jetty (Mayan Chan Jetty) to purchase ferry tickets (5000 kyat per person) for a 9:30am departure and a 12:30pm return, and wait by the shoreline until your boat is called. The boat ride up the river is lovely with a constant breeze, and drops you a 15 minute walk from Hsinbyume Myatheindan Pagoda. Important: if you want this temple all to yourself, go there immediately! Most passengers head to Mingun Pahtodawayi first as it is closest to the drop-off point, giving you an hour or so at the most beautiful temple in Myanmar virtually all to yourself.
