This prohibition was reiterated by officers during baggage weighing two days before their scheduled departure from Saudi Arabia. Garuda Indonesia Aviation Security Officer Norman Fajar revealed that Zamzam water is the most frequently found item in pilgrims' suitcases. This despite repeated information regarding this carry-on baggage rule being provided to all pilgrims. In addition to Zamzam water, other items such as aerosols, sharp objects, toy guns, batteries, and power banks are prohibited from being carried in checked baggage. This restriction is in place to ensure flight safety and security. Airline regulations set a maximum weight limit of 32 kilograms per pilgrim. Pilgrims exceeding the capacity are required to reduce the contents of their suitcases without incurring additional charges during the weighing process. Officials also urged pilgrims not to tie their suitcases with raffia rope or excessive duct tape. This is considered to hinder X-ray scanning and slow down airport baggage handling. The Head of the Makkah Working Area (Daker), Ihsan Faisal, explained that all hotel luggage will be thoroughly X-rayed at the airline warehouse. Prohibited items will be automatically removed, while Zamzam water will be destroyed by Saudi Arabian authorities without return. The government asked pilgrims not to worry, as a five-liter quota of Zamzam water has been prepared at each disembarkation point.
